photoThoughts

Pictures are records of life. And, in life, events occur that are sacred to each individual. Some are simple. some are complex. Nonetheless, they are fleeting moments that we both adore and abhor. The tying of a shoe. The camaraderie of family and friends at mealtime. The illness of someone close. The tragedy of a pet loss. Each day is a gift to be cherished. By documenting the ordinary, we are honoring the beauty and simplicity of the day, As unadorned as it may seem, a record is being made. A record for us today. And, a reminder for those of tomorrow.

Reflection

I always thought that I had to be a traveler to take interesting photographs. In pastime, I have found myself shooting fascinating people and beautiful landscapes in other places. Yet, unless there is a cord of familiarity linking myself to those people and places, I am disconnected. I am grateful to God for giving us the ability to create. And, I am equally grateful for the wise guidance inspiring me to capture on film my family and my surroundings in this time. I am connected. I am at home. And yet, I am still a traveler in my own backyard.
